Women's Swimming & Diving Defeated By Loyola College, 122-120

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's swimming and diving team was defeated by Loyola College, 122-120, on Saturday, November 9 in Providence, R.I. Junior Bridget McKenna (Narragansett, R.I.) earned two first-place finishes to lead the Friars. She won the 800 meter freestyle in a time of 9:55.88, and finished first in the 400 meter freestyle in a time of 4:47.88. Senior Kate Fuller (Staten Island, N.Y.) took first in the 200 meter breaststroke (2:56.26). Fuller also was part of the 200 meter freestyle relay team that posted a first-place finish with a time of 1:59.43. The team was made up of Fuller, freshman Lori Bresinsky (Bethlehem, Pa.), freshman Jill Fortier (East Haddam, Conn.) and junior Caitlin Driscoll (Fall River, Mass.). In the diving portion of the meet, senior Mary Burke (Burr Ridge, Ill.) won the optional one-meter dive with 142.70 points. In the one-meter required diving event, sophomore Jamie Modon-Cohen (Yorktown, N.Y.) placed first (176.70 points) and Burke finished second (147.20 points). Providence will host Holy Cross on Friday, November 15 in Providence, R.I. Diving is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m., followed by the swim events at 5:00 p.m. |
