PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's swimming and diving team was defeated by Fairfield University in its home opener, 142-101, in Providence, R.I.

Senior Kate Fuller (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the Friars with two first-place finishes on the afternoon. In the 200 meter IM, Fuller paced the field with a finish time of 2:37.48. She earned her second first-place finish of the day in the 100 meter breaststroke with a time of 1:20.19.

Sophomore Jamie Modon-Cohen (Yorktown, N.Y.) earned first place in the one-meter diving event with a total score of 155.70. Also finishing first in their respective events for Providence were Bridget McKenna of Narragansett, R.I. (800 meter freestyle - 9:50.98) and the 400 meter freestyle relay team (4:27.67). The relay team was comprised of Marianna Trilla (Belmont, Mass.), Jill Fortier (East Haddam, Conn.), Lyndsay Taylor (Devonshire, Bermuda) and Katie Burns (Clark, N.J.).

The Friars fall to 0-2 on the season and will host Loyola on Saturday, November 9 in Providence, R.I. The diving portion of the meet will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by the swim events at 1:00 p.m.
