STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The Providence College women's swimming and diving team was defeated in its season opener, 141-90, on Saturday, Ocotober 26, by Stony Brook in Stony Brook, N.Y.

Junior Bridget McKenna (Narragansett, R.I.) finished second in the 1000 meter freestyle. Senior Kate Fuller (Staten Island, N.Y.) earned a second-place finish in the 100 meter breaststroke with a time of 1:12.48. In the diving segment of the meet, sophomore Jamie Modon-Cohon (Yorktown, N.Y.) placed second in the one-meter dive with 184.2 points.

Providence falls to 0-1 on the season and will host Fairfield University on Saturday, November 2. The meet will begin with the diving competition at 11:00 a.m., with swimming events beginning at 1:00 p.m.
