Women's Swimming And Diving Team Sinks Sacred Heart, 148-95

FAIRFIELD, CONN. - The Providence College women's swimming and diving team defeated Sacred Heart, 148-95, on Saturday, February 8 in Fairfield, Conn. Senior Kate Fuller (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the Friars with three individual first-place finishes, while sophomore diver Jamie Modon-Cohen (Yorktown, N.Y.) recorded first place finishes in the one meter and three-meter diving events. Fuller won the 200 individual medley (2:38.18), the 100 freestyle (1:02.91) and the 100 breast stroke (1:19.99). Moden-Cohen registered 189.525 points to win the one-meter diving event, and followed with a 199.275 point performance to claim victory in the three-meter diving competition. Senior Christina Cotter (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) was the only other Friar to win an individual event as she took first place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:19.84. Providence also earned first-place victories in both relays on Saturday. In the 200 medley relay, freshman Mariana Trilla (Belmont, Mass.), Cotter, sophomore Alyssa Meleski (Southington, Conn.) and freshman Lori Brezinsky (Bethlehem, Pa.) teamed up to finish with a time of 2:14.92. Junior Lyndsay Taylor (Devonshire, Bermuda), Meleski, junior Bridget McKenna (Narragansett, R.I.) and junior Caitlin Driscoll (Fall River, Mass.) combined to win the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 2:00.13. |
