Red Sox Visit Softball Team on Road Trip

    Dec. 5, 2012

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. -

The Providence College softball team welcomed three members of the Boston Red Sox and Wally the Green Monster as a part of the Red Sox Holiday Road Trip on Thursday, Nov. 29.

The players that visited were pitchers Chris Carpenter and Mark Melancon, and outfielder Ryan Kalish.  Before touring Providence's facilities and Alumni Hall, the Sox players visited the Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, R.I.

"Mark, Ryan and Chris stopping by Friartown is as special as it gets," said Head Coach Kerri Jacklets.

"They gave us their full and undivided attention to ask them questions, tour our facilities and connect with our players.  We talked about the game, where they were in their own off-season training and listened to stories of their own playing experience.  We normally see them competing on TV and here they are in the community passing along their good work, it's inspiring.  I am grateful to them for spending so much time with us!"

Check out the video below for an inside look at their visit.
