PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College softball team earned the 23rd spot in the 2009-10 Girls Got Game/NFCA All-Academic rankings. The Girls Got Game Academic Awards program honors both collegiate and high school teams for their GPAs for the 2009-2010 academic year. As a second component of the program, all student-athletes who achieved a 3.50 GPA during the previous academic year are named as Girls Got Game/NFCA Scholar Athletes.

The Friars had nine players receive the scholar athlete award. Individuals who earned the award for Providence include, recent graduates Christy Becker (Atlanta, Ga.), Teresa Bertels (Lower Gwynedd, Pa.), Danielle Bertolette (Temecula, Calif.), Katelyn Revens (Warwick, R.I.) and Jenna Garcia (Morro Bay, Calif). Current players receiving scholar athlete accolades are junior Jen Abrams (Reading, Mass.), junior Megan McCann (Hopkinton, Mass.), senior Ava Pandiani (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and senior Kathryn Sullivan (Langrangevill, N.Y.).
