PROVIDENCE COLLEGE FRIARS

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College Softball Head Coach Kerri Jacklets announced the team’s 2016 fall schedule today (Aug. 15).  All eight games this fall will take place at Glay Field, including the R.I. Ocean State Classic and Friar Fall Invitational.

The Friars open up the fall slate against Holy Cross on Friday, Sept. 23 (7 p.m.), with Boston College visiting the following day (Sept. 24) for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.

The R.I. Ocean State Classic opens on Oct. 1 as in-state rivals Brown, Bryant, and Rhode Island visit Glay Field for a two-day event.  Providence will open up against Bryant (11 a.m.), followed up by a matchup with Brown (1 p.m.).  Brown and Rhode Island will battle at 3 p.m. on Oct. 1 following the conclusion of Providence’s games.  The following day, the Friars will host Rhode Island (11 a.m.) with Bryant vs. Rhode Island (1 p.m.) and Brown vs. Bryant (3 p.m.) rounding out the tournament on Oct. 2.

The fall schedule concludes on Saturday, Oct. 15 with games against Boston University (11 a.m.) and UMass Lowell (3 p.m.) in the Friar Fall Invitational.  Boston University and UMass Lowell will play at 1 p.m. that afternoon.

The 2017 regular season schedule will be announced at a later date.
