Providence College softball Head Coach Kerri Jacklets
announced today (August 12), that Nadia Kemp (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) will attend Providence College and join the softball program, starting in the fall of 2014. Kemp spent the 2013-14 academic year at N.C. State and will have three years of eligibility remaining. Kemp will add depth both offensively and defensively for Providence.
During her freshman year with the Wolfpack, Kemp made 16 starts while appearing in 41 games overall. She registered a .222 batting average and recorded 10 RBI.
For her high school career at John Jay East Fishkill, Kemp earned four varsity letters in softball and served as team captain for three years. Kemp received a 2011 All-Section 1 honors and was an Honorable Mention selection in 2010 and 2012-13. She also was named an All-League (2010-13), Poughkeepsie Journal First Team All-Star (2011-13) and All-Hudson Valley Second Team (2012). Kemp helped her team win the New York State Championship in 2011, while earning the Best Sportsmanship Award and New York State Second Team (New York Sportswriters Association). Kemp also received three varsity letters in volleyball and one in indoor track. Kemp played club softball for Wicked, Connecticut Charmers Gold and the Morris County Belles for club.
