PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College softball sophomore Kiki Baldassari(Denville, N.J.) was named to College Sports Madness All-BIG EAST First Team, it was announced on Saturday, May 10.
Baldassari earns the honor after ending the year ranked tied for first in hits (28), tied for second in stolen bases (7) and fifth with a .418 batting average (conference play).
The sophomore started all 35 of the team's games this season and registered at least one hit in 27 of those games. Out of the 27 games, nine were multi-hit games. The outfielder led the Friars in batting average (.356), hits (42), runs scored (18) and stolen bases (12) this season. She is currently on pace to set career records for batting average, runs scored, hits and stolen bases. In her rookie year, Baldassari ranked second all-time for single season runs scored (42) and third all-time in single season hits (62).
Baldassari also was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team on Tuesday, May 6 and made the weekly BIG EAST honor roll on Monday, May 5. In the preseason, the outfielder was selected to the Sports Madness Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team.
