Softball’s Lundstrom Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The BIG EAST announced its weekly Player of the Week and Honor Roll on Monday, May 8. Providence senior Nicole Lundstrom (Rehoboth, Mass.) was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week.

Over the five games that the Friars played, Lundstrom batted .500 while accumulating eight hits, five runs, one double, three home runs and eight RBI. Lundstrom’s efforts also helped the Friars win two-of-three games against the Villanova Wildcats on the final series of the season.

The week also solidified Lundstrom’s position in the Friar record books as she now ranks tied for first in single-season home runs (12) and first in runs scored (47). In her career, Lundstrom now ranks first in slugging percentage (.622), second in home runs (26), fourth in batting average (.336), and fifth in runs scored (106).
