Softball To Play Midweek Games Against Holy Cross And Boston College

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College Softball team is set play midweek games against Holy Cross and Boston College. The Friars will take on Holy Cross for their final home game of the year on Tuesday, May 2 at 5:00 p.m. Providence will then travel to Chestnut Hill to take on Boston College on Wednesday, May 3 at 4:00 p.m.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE: The Providence College Softball team has a record of 19-23 including an 8-10 record in the BIG EAST. Providence is coming off of sweeping its weekend series against Creighton on April 29-30.

Nicole Lundstrom (Rehoboth, Mass.) has been the leader of the Friar’s offense all season. Lundstrom has tallied 43 hits, seven doubles, nine home runs, 31 RBI and 42 runs. She also has a .361 batting average.

Emma Lee (Orange, Calif.) has also played an important role as she has a team high .365 batting average with 58 hits and 12 doubles.

Julianne Rurka (Warrenville, Ill.) has elevated her game in BIG EAST play. In 18 BIG EAST games, Rurka has a batting average of .385 with 15 hits, three doubles, one home run and 18 RBI.

Christina Ramirez has been the ace of the Providence pitching staff. In 27 starts, Ramirez has a record of 13-13 with 21 complete games and 107 strike outs.

SCOUTING HOLY CROSS: The Holy Cross Crusaders have a record of 12-25 with a 7-8 Patriot league record.

Mandy McCarthy has been the top offensive threat for the Crusaders, posting a .359 batting average with 37 hits, five doubles and 20 RBI.

The top pitcher for Holy Cross has been Alexandra Held. Held has a record of 9-9 on the season with a 4.21 ERA.

SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGE: The Boston College Eagles have had a strong year as they have an overall record of 29-19 with a 13-7 record in the ACC.

The Eagles top offensive player has been Taylor Coroneos. This season, Coroneos has a batting average of .346 with 30 runs, 56 hits, five doubles and 12 RBI. Tatiana Cortez has been the power hitter for Boston College as she has tallied six doubles, one triple, 11 home runs and 43 RBI.

Jessica Dreswick has been the Eagles ace pitcher. Dreswick has 21-11 record with an ERA of 2.15. In 212.0 innings pitched, Dreswick has struck out 156 batters while only walking 68.

The Providence College softball team defeated Boston College, 7-6, on Wednesday, April 27 at Glay Field in Providence, R.I. With the win, the Friars improved to 17-26, while the Eagles moved to 24-21.
