Softball’s Lundstrom, Ramirez Named To BIG EAST Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I.– The BIG EAST announced its weekly Player and Pitcher of the Week for Softball on Monday, May 1. Senior Nicole Lundstrom (Rehoboth, Mass.) and junior Christina Ramirez (Niceville, Fla.) were named to the BIG EAST weekly honor roll. Both Lundstrom and Ramirez played important roles in the Friars weekend series against Creighton on April 29-30.

In the three games this past weekend, Lundstrom tallied 4 runs, 4 hits,1 double, 1 home run and 1 RBI. Lundstrom’s home run was the difference maker in Providence’s 2-1 win on Saturday, April 29. The home run was also Lundstrom’s 23rd of her Friar career, moving her into a three way tie for third on Providence’s all-time career home run list.

Ramirez started two of the three games for Providence this weekend. Ramirez was the winning pitcher in both games and improved her season record to 13-13. In 11.1 innings of work, Ramirez allowed only 2 earned runs while striking out 9 batters.

Providence next plays their final home game of the season against Holy Cross on Tuesday, May 2 at 5:00 p.m.
