PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College softball team will host the Boston College Eagles on Tuesday, May 1 at 4:00 p.m. to complete their home schedule this season.
The Friars (15-34, 6-12 BIG EAST) will be playing in their final non-conference game of the year before traveling to DePaul for a three-game series over the weekend. Freshman Kristie Dederick (Camarillo, Calif.) led the way last week as she had at least one hit in all five games and batted 7-for-14 (.500), with one home run, four RBIs and a .857 slugging percentage. On the season, Dederick leads the Friars with seven home runs and 25 RBIs. Senior Alicia Grosso (Baldwin, N.Y.) and junior Corinne Clauss (Davie, Fla.) each have seven wins this season to lead the pitching staff.
Boston College (22-26, 2-16 ACC) enters Tuesday's game having lost four consecutive games including three games to conference rival Maryland. Junior Nicole D'Argento leads the Eagles with 10 wins, 109 strikeouts and 143.2 innings pitched this season in the circle and a .333 batting average, nine home runs and 31 RBIs at the plate.
With three conference games left this season, the Friars currently sit in 10th place in the BIG EAST standings. A sweep of DePaul can clinch the Friars their third consecutive BIG EAST Championship appearance. The top eight teams make it to the BIG EAST Tournament.
