Softball Hosts Boston College And Travels To Bryant

Sophomore Kiki Baldassari leads PC with 33 hits and 11 stolen bases

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College softball team (6-25) will host Boston College (28-19), on Tuesday, April 29 at Raymond Field. On the following day, Providence will travel to Smithfield, R.I. to square off against Bryant (28-19). Both non-conference games will begin at 4:00 p.m.

Sophomore Kiki Baldassari (Denville, N.J.) leads Providence with 33 hits on the year and 11 stolen bases. Junior Kristie Dederick (Camarillo, Calif.) adds 25 hits on the season. Freshman McKall Miller (Ashburn, Va.) leads the team with 15 RBI and seven home runs. Sophomore Danielle Deraney (Shrewsbury, Mass.) leads the team in batting average at .362.

Freshman Taylor Huntly (Las Vegas, Nev.) has made 23 pitching appearances for 125.0 innings and has a 4.10 ERA. She has fanned 61 batters on the year. Sophomore Kiara Amos (Malden, Mass.) has recorded 52 strikeouts in 64.2 innings pitched.

The Eagles are led by Megan Cooley who has a team-best 55 hits and a .353 batting average. Tory Speer has registered a team-high 80 RBI on the year. Speer and Tatiana Cortez have hit 10 home runs on the year. Nicole D'Argento leads the pitching staff with a 2.54 ERA in 38 appearances. She has recorded 175 strikeouts in 193.0 innings. Jordan Weed has also made pitching appearances for Boston College with 31 appearances in 99.2 innings pitched.

Bryant is led by Madeline Velasquez who has tallied 53 hits on the season and has a team-best 36 RBI. Five different Bulldogs have batting averages in the .300's. Elle Madsen leads the Bryant pitching staff with a 2.74 ERA in 196.2 innings. She has struck out a total of 132 batters. Katelin Saunders has also made 16 appearances on the mound, totaling 66.2 innings for a 5.35 ERA.
