Softball Set To Play Brown, Harvard, and Seton Hall

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College softball team is set to play Brown, Harvard, and Seton Hall this week.  On Wednesday, April 20, the Friars will play a home game versus Brown at 5:00 p.m. at Glay Field.  On Thursday, April 21, Providence will play another home game versus Harvard at 5:00 p.m. at Glay Field.  This weekend, the Friars will travel to Seton Hall for a three-game series.  On Saturday, April 23, Providence will play Seton Hall at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. in a double-header, and on Sunday, April 24, the Friars will play the Pirates in a single game, beginning at 12:00 p.m. in South Orange, N.J.

Kemp Powers Softball Past Brown With Three Homeruns In 10-2 Win
The Providence College softball team defeated Brown, 10-2, in six innings, behind a three homerun showing by sophomore Nadia Kemp (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.), in a non-conference game on Wednesday afternoon at the Brown Softball Field.

The Providence College softball team (10-17-1, 0-3 BIG EAST) defeated the Harvard Crimson, 5-3, on Tuesday, April 2 in Cambridge, Mass.

The Friars are holding a 15-22 overall record (2-9 BIG EAST), after posting a 1-2 record in the three-game series versus St. Johns this past weekend (April 16-17).  Freshman Emma Lee (Orange, Calif.) leads the Friars with a .413 batting average, and has tallied 45 hits 15 RBI.  Junior Nicole Lundstrom (Rehoboth, Mass.) leads the Friars with 45 RBI, is batting .292, and has tallied 31 hits. Freshman Megan McCune (Orange, Calif.) leads Providence with a 2.65 ERA, has pitched 60.2 innings and struck out 46 batters.  In 91.2 innings pitched, sophomore Christina Ramirez (Niceville, Fla.) has struck out 61 batters and holds a 3.82 ERA.

SCOUTING BROWN: The Bears are 16-16 (7-4 Ivy League) on the season, after dropping four games to Dartmouth in back-to-back double headers this past weekend.  Julia Schoenewald leads Brown with a .398 batting average.  She has recorded 33 hits on the season, and 15 RBI.  Yeram Park has a team-high 38 hits.  Park is batting .355 on the season, and has tallied 20 RBI.  On the mound, Katie Orona has appeared in 18 games, including 15 starts, posting a 2.55 ERA, and striking out 74 batters.

SCOUTING HARVARD:  The Crimson are 20-14 (9-3 Ivy League) on the season, after posting a 3-1 record in a four-game series at Yale this past weekend.  Maddy Kaplan leads the Crimson with a .420 batting average, and also has tallied 37 hits and 21 RBI.  Rhianna Rich has a team-high 43 hits in 119 at bats for a .361 batting average.  She has tallied 13 RBI.  In 71.1 innings pitched, Morgan Groom has posted a 2.26 ERA, with 71 strike outs.

SCOUTING SETON HALL: The Pirates are 21-23 (4-7 BIG EAST) on the season, after posting a 2-1 record in a three-game series at Georgetown this past weekend.  Valerie Suto leads the team with a .392 batting average, 56 hits, and has tallied five RBI. Alexis Walkden has a team-best 31 RBI.  She is batting .349 and has recorded 45 hits.  On the mound, Chrisa Head has pitched 81 innings, struck out 32 batters, and is recording a 3.54 ERA.
