Providence and Brown Split in Softball

PROVIDENCE, R.I. --The Lady Friar softball team split with Brown this afternoon losing the first game, 4-2 then winning the nightcap, 1-0.
In the first game, Brown's Julie Iler and Jen Purchase each tallied two hits for the Bears to lead the attack. Freshman Tami Parrott belted a double in the fifth inning to knock in two runs for the 4-2 edge in the game. Providence pitcher Robyn West gave up six hits and struck out six batters. PC junior Kristi Lyman was 2-2 at the plate.
In the second game, Providence's freshman Kerri Jacklets hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Friars the victory. Friar hurler Heather Nathan recorded a one-hitter on the mound.
Providence's record is 12-16-2 overall while Brown falls to 2-12 overall.
