    PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College softball team (3-19, 1-7) will compete at Connecticut (7-25, 2-6) on Wednesday, April 9. The contest will start at 4:00 p.m.

    Sophomore Kiki Baldassari (Denville, N.J.) leads Providence with 22 hits on the year. Freshman McKall Miller (Ashburn, Va.) and junior Kristie Dederick (Camarillo, Calif.) both follow with 16 hits. Miller leads the team with nine RBI and four home runs. Junior Sarah Kitterman (Houston, Texas) has also tallied home runs, with three on the year. Sophomore Danielle Deraney (Shrewsbury, Mass.) leads the team in batting average at .393 in 14 games and 11 starts.

    Freshman Taylor Huntly (Las Vegas, Nev.) has made 15 pitching appearances in 82.0 innings. She has fanned 41 batters on the year. Sophomore Kiara Amos (Malden, Mass.) has also made pitching appearances, with 36 strikeouts in 49.0 innings pitched.

    UConn is led by Valerie Sadowl who has a team-best 28 hits and a .346 batting average. Audrey Grinnell has recorded a team-high 22 RBI on the season. Lauren Duggan is the frontrunner on the pitching staff with 23 appearances, 5.87 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 102.2 innings pitched.

    After the midweek game the Friars return home to Raymond Field to take on BIG EAST opponent St. John's on Saturday, April 12 (double header) and Sunday, April 13 (single game). Saturday's double will be the team's Pink Out game and is set to start at noon and 2:30 p.m. Res Life will be putting on a bake sale with all the benefits going to the Gloria Gemma Foundation. Providence's single game on Sunday will begin at noon.
