Softball Faces No. 11 Louisville in Weekday Doubleheader

    The Providence College softball team (12-18-1, 2-4 BIG EAST) will host the No. 11 Louisville Cardinals in a weekday doubleheader on Tuesday, April 9 in Providence, R.I. The games are scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.

    The Friars posted a 3-1 record last week, including two wins against BIG EAST foe Connecticut.  Senior Corinne Clauss (Davie, Fla.) pitched all three wins during the week and recorded a 1.38 ERA (0.95 ERA BIG EAST).  She tallied 17 strikeouts, and a season high eight strikeouts in the teams’ nonconference match against Harvard on Tuesday, April 2.  Senior Jessie Bryant (Marlborough, Mass.) led the Friars offensively against the Huskies with recorded four doubles and one run.

    Softball Falls To Louisville, 4-0
    The Providence College softball team fell to the Louisville Cardinals, 4-0, on Thursday, April 21.

    Louisville comes to Providence on a five-game win streak, including sweeping the St. John’s Red Storm in a three-game series this past weekend.  The Cardinal’s pitchers shutout St. John’s in their final two games of the series, 15-0 and 8-0. Both games lasted five innings.  Pitchers Caralisa Connell and Rachel LeCoq have recorded 1.83 and 1.85 ERAs this season, respectively.  They have also combined for nine shutouts this season.
