    PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College softball team will compete against Rhode Island (7-19) on Wednesday, April 2. The first pitch is set for 3:30 p.m. in Kingston, R.I.

    Sophomore Kiki Baldassari (Denville, N.J.) leads the Friars with 17 hits, while freshman McKall Miller (Ashburn, Va.) and junior Kristie Dederick (Camarillo, Calif.) follow with 14 hits apiece. Miller has a team-best eight RBI and four home runs. Sophomore Danielle Deraney (Shrewsbury, Mass.) leads with team in batting average at .471 in 10 games and seven starts.

    Freshman Taylor Huntly (Las Vegas, Nev.) has made 11 pitching appearances for 61.1 innings. She has fanned 33 batters on the year. Sophomore Kiara Amos (Malden, Mass.) has also made pitching appearances with 28 strikeouts in 43.2 innings pitched.

    Taylor Archer leads the Rams with 18 hits and 11 RBI. Stacey Fox has a team-best nine runs scored on the season. Sam Bedore leads the pitching staff with 69.0 innings pitched with a 3.65 ERA and 66 strikeouts.

    After Wednesday's game, the Friars travel to Indianapolis, Ind. for a BIG EAST matchup against Butler on Saturday, April 5 (doubleheader) and Sunday, April 6 (single game). The double header times are set for noon ET and 2:30 p.m. ET. First pitch for the single game is set for 11:00 a.m. ET.
