The Providence College softball team (9-13, 0-0) will host the DePaul Blue Demons (13-12, 0-0) this weekend for a three-game series to open BIG EAST Conference play. The teams will face-off in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 23 beginning at 12:00 p.m. and close the series with the final game being played on Sunday, March 24 at 11:00 a.m. The Friars won their most recent game against Yale, 9-0, in five innings on Thursday, March 21.

Softball Falls To DePaul, 5-1, In Season Finale
The Providence College softball team was defeated by DePaul, 5-1, Sunday afternoon in a BIG EAST Conference game at Cacciatore Stadium in Chicago, Ill. It marked the season finale for the Friars. The game was halted after five innings because of inclement weather.
Against Yale, sophomore Megan Rollings (Marysville, Wash.) hit her first homerun of the season to bring in the Friars’ first three runs in the second inning (3-0). An inning later, sophomore Kelsi Luttrell (Mission Viejo, Calif.) hit another three-run homerun to extend Providence’s lead to six. Luttrell’s homerun also was her first of the year. PC scored one more run in the fourth inning, and two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
DePaul is coming to Providence after picking up four losses to Washington, California State Fullerton, Penn State and Texas at the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, Calif. last weekend. Last season, the Friars posted a 1-2 record against DePaul in Chicago, Ill.
