Providence (3-16) will welcome the Bulldogs to Raymond Field after dropping two games at the Amy S. Harrison Classic in Riverside, Calif. last weekend. On Saturday, March 14, the Friars fell to Longwood (5-4) and UC Riverside (6-5). Game one saw RBI doubles from junior Teresa Bertels (Lower Gwynedd, Pa.) and Mary Rose Sheehy (Woodbridge, Conn.). Senior Alisha Levin (Madisonville, Ky.) pitched five and two-thirds innings and allowed just one run on three hits while striking out five batters.
Against UC Riverside, senior Gina Rossi (Bakersfield, Calif.) belted two solo home-runs, her second and third of the season, to give PC a 5-3 advantage going into the sixth. Riverside came out and scored three sixth inning runs to take the lead for good. Sheehy recorded three hits on the day to extend her hitting streak to seven games. On the season, Sheehy leads the Friars with a .431 batting average to go along with a team-high 11 RBIs and four doubles.
Yale comes into this weekend's double header with a 6-8 record. The Bulldogs dropped a double header to Stony Brook on Wednesday by scores of 7-1 and 6-1, respectively. They are led by Lauren Huddleston and her team-high .500 batting average and 12 runs on the year. Rebecca Wojciak leads the pitching staff with a 2.51 era with 27 strikeouts in 39 innings pitched.
