The Providence College softball team has rescheduled their opening game versus the Yale Bulldogs to Thursday, March 21 at 4:00 p.m.
The Friars (8-13) posted a 2-2 record last week with wins over Holy Cross on Friday, March 15 (11-7) and a win over Manhattan on Sunday, March 17 (6-0) at the Stony Brook Invitational. Against Holy Cross, sophomore Sarah Kitterman (Houston, Texas) tallied her fourth homerun of the season. Kitterman went 3-5 on the day with three RBI. Freshman Kiara Amos (Malden, Mass.) pitched her 10th complete game of her career and improved her record to 4-7. Amos has made an appearance in 16 of the Friars' games this season. Junior Emily O'Keefe (Southington, Conn.) pitched a no-hitter until the fifth inning in the Friars' victory over Manhattan. The game marked her third complete game of the season. O'Keefe allowed three hits and tallied one strikeout in the Friars' first shutout of the season.
The Yale Bulldogs (2-11) come to Providence, R.I. after travelling to the Stony Brook Invitational this past weekend. While at the Stony Brook Invitational, Yale went 0-5, putting them on a seven game losing streak entering the game against the Friars. Yale returns four seniors, four juniors and four sophomores to their 2013 squad, and added four freshmen, including freshman pitcher Rhydian Glass who has made six appearances this season.
