PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College freshman softball pitcher Nicole Bartholomew (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) was named the BIG EAST Conference's Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday, March 18.

Bartholomew earned the honor after pitching her first career no-hitter in a 1-0 victory at Winthrop University on Saturday, March 16 at the 2002 Winthrop Invitational. Bartholomew tied her career-high with nine strikeouts and walked three in the complete-game shutout. The rookie right-hander also pitched the final two innings of a 4-2 loss to St. Peter's College on Friday, March 15, holding the Peahens without a hit while allowing one walk and striking out four.

For the week, Bartholomew was 1-0, earning her team-leading fourth victory, with a 0.00 ERA and had 13 strikeouts.

The Friars open BIG EAST Conference play on Sunday, March 24th when they host Virginia Tech at 12 noon at PC's Raymond Field.
