Softball Drops Games At Louisville Slugger Tournament

STOCKTON, CALIF. – The Providence College women’s softball team played two games at the Pacific Louisville Slugger Tournament on Sunday, March 4. After the first two days of the tournament were cancelled due to weather, the Friars were only able to play two games over the course of the weekend. Providence dropped game against San Jose State and Pacific. Providence now has a record of 3-9 on the season.

 

SAN JOSE STATE GAME NOTES:
- The Friars dropped the game 4-2.
-Paige Mulry (West Roxbury, Mass.) led the Friars with two hits in the game.
-Emma Lee (Orange, Calif.), Vanessa Portillo (Chatsworth, Calif.), and Megan McCune (Orange, Calif.) each tallied hits as well.
-Mackensie Compton (Langhorne, Pa.) and Julianne Rurka (Warrenville, Ill.) each tallied an RBI.
-Miranda Trinidad (La Habra, Calif.) was the pitcher of record for the Friars.  She pitched four innings, giving up five hits, four runs. Her record on the season is now 1-4.
-McCune pitched two innings of relief, giving up zero hits and zero runs.

 

PACIFIC GAME NOTES:
-Providence lost the game 11-5.
-Portillo led the Friars with two hits and two RBI in the game.
-Rurka also tallied a hit and two RBI in the loss.
-Lee, McCune, and Veler also recorded hits.
-Christina Ramirez (Niceville, Fla) was the pitcher of record for Providence. She pitched two innings, giving up five runs and four hits and dropped her season record to 1-4. Taylor Huntly (Las Vegas, Nev.) pitched an inning of relief of Ramirez, allowing six hits and six runs. McCune pitched the final two innings, allowing no runs and no hits.


 

 

 

ON DECK:
Providence travels to Northbridge, Calif to play a doubleheader against CSUN on Tuesday, March 6.
