It was announced today (Feb. 25) that Providence College sophomore designated hitter Sarah Kitterman (Houston, Texas) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll. Kitterman earned the honor after she led the Friars to their two victories over the weekend.
Kitterman recorded a .400 batting average on six hits in 15 at bats. She also registered one double, one triple, two homeruns and seven RBI in the opening weekend as the Friars went 2-3 at the Florida Atlantic “Strike-Out Cancer” Tournament in Boca Raton, Fla. Kitterman led the Friars to a 13-7 victory over Northern Illinois on Fri., Feb. 22, going 3-for-3 with a homerun and five RBI. Then, she had the go-ahead homerun in the bottom of the fifth inning against BIG EAST foe Connecticut (2-1) on Sat., Feb. 23.
Providence will return to action next weekend at the USF Under Armour Invitational in Clearwater, Fla. on March 1-3. The Friars will play five games in three days, opening with a pair of games on Friday versus Central Michigan and Loyola Marymount. On Sat., March 2, the Friars take on Quinnipiac and Florida Gulf Coast. Then on Sun., March 3, the Friars play their final game of the tournament against Illinois.
