The softball team opens its season on Fri., Feb. 22 in Boca Raton, Fla. at the Florida Atlantic “Strike-Out Cancer” Tournament. The Friars will play five games in three days, opening with a pair of games on Friday versus Northern Illinois and North Florida. On Sat., Feb. 23, the Friars take on BIG EAST foe Connecticut and host Florida Atlantic. On Sun., Feb. 24, the Friars play their final game of the tournament against Towson.

Softball Defeated In Two Games At FIU Combat Classic
The Providence College softball team competed in the second day of the FIU Combat Classic on Saturday, February 13 in Miami, Fla. Providence was defeated by North Florida, 4-0, in the first game and then fell to North Carolina State, 4-2.

Softball Sweeps Two Games At FAU Embassy Suites Classic
The Providence College softball team swept two games at the FAU Embassy Suites Classic Sunday afternoon in Boca Raton, Fla. The Friars defeated Bethune-Cookman, 3-2, and tournament host, Florida Atlantic, 9-0, in five innings.

The 2013 Providence College softball team will look to reach the BIG EAST Championship for the third time in the past four years. The Friars return 13 players, including three seniors, while bringing in six new players to the fold.
The Friars are led by Head Coach Kerri Jacklets, who is in her eighth season with the team. Jacklets will be looking to lead the Friars to the BIG EAST Tournament for the fifth time in her career. During the 2013 campaign, Jacklets will be assisted by Assistant Coach Heather Rush, Graduate Assistant Coach Kathy McLaughlin and Volunteer Assistant Coach Jill Karwoski, who are all entering their first seasons with the Friars.
The Friars will compete in three additional tournaments before their first home series of the season versus the Yale Bulldogs. The Friars will host the Bulldogs on Wed., March 20, in a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m at Raymond Field located on the Providence College campus.
