Providence Softball Downed By St. John's

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College softball team played the final game of its three-game series against the St. John’s Red Storm on Sunday, April 29. The Friars were downed by St. John’s 5-3 and moved to 12-29 (6-11) on the season.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
- St. John’s got on the board first, when they hit a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning.
- The Red Storm added to their lead in the top of the fifth with a two-run homerun that made the score 3-0.
- St. John’s scored another two runs in the top of the seventh to make the score 5-0.
- Megan McCune (Orange, Calif.) put Providence within striking distance in the bottom of the seventh when she slammed a three-run homerun to left field.
- Providence could not score again, however, and dropped the contest, 5-3.
- Christina Ramirez (Niceville, Fla.) was the pitcher of record for Providence. Ramirez went 5.0 innings, allowing three runs while striking out four batters.
- Miranda Trinidad (La Habra, Calif.) pitched 1.2 innings of relief, allowing one run and three hits.

ON DECK:
The Friars play their final non-conference game of the year on Tuesday, May 1 when the Central Connecticut Blue Devils come to Glay Field. The first pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
