Softball Suffers 5-0 Loss to USF

    The Providence College softball team (12-23-1, 2-9 BIG EAST) were defeated by USF, 5-0, in the teams' final game of the three-game series in Tampa, Fla. on Sunday, April 14.  The Friars look to snap their losing streak against Rhode Island on Tuesday, April 16 in their annual PINK OUT game. The double header will begin at 2:30 p.m. and will be televised on tape delay on COX Sports.

    During today's game the Friars were able to get the bats moving with five hits.  Junior Marie Flego (Little Silver, N.J.) led the team offensively. She went 2-3 on the day with two singles off of Bull's pitcher Sara Nevins.  Freshman Kiarra Baldassari (Denville, N.J.), sophomore Shanelle Harrell (Irvine, Calif.) and senior Stephanie Kiesel (Ramona, Calif.) also each recorded a hit.

    USF improved to a 13-1 record in the BIG EAST with their only loss coming from Rutgers (3-2) on March 23.
