Providence (11-16) scored three times with two outs in the third inning to take the lead. Boston College (10-19) pulled to within, 3-1, in the fourth inning when Maria Pandolfo doubled down the right field line to plate Alison Kooistra. However, in the fifth inning, Bertels smacked a three-run home run as the lead grew to 6-1. It marked Bertels' second home run of the game and her second of the season. She finished with five RBIs. Becker and sophomore Michelle Huber (Dana Point, Calif.) each had three hits for the Friars, who totalled 12.
Freshman Corinne Clauss (Davie, Fla.) earned the win as she pitched all seven innings and allowed just one run on seven hits and struck out five batters.
