PROVIDENCE, R.I --The Lady Friar softball team was swept by Notre Dame this afternoon, 3-0 and 3-2 in BIG EAST action.
The Friars were held to one hit in the first game while the Irish pounded out ten hits on PC freshman pitcher Robyn West. Notre Dame tallied two runs in the second inning and another run in the third inning to provide the edge. The winning pitcher was freshman Jennifer Sharron for Notre Dame. Friar freshman Kerri Jacklets recorded a double for Providence.
In the second game, Notre Dame ran out to another 3-0 lead after three innings. The Friars battled back and scored two in the bottom of the sixth as Jacklets and freshman Val Bono recorded RBIs. Friar pitcher Heather Nathan gave up seven hits and struck out two.
Providence falls to 10-14-2 overall.
