    GEORGETOWN, Del. - The Providence College softball team (13-4) claimed the Bash at the Beach Tournament with a 5-4 win over Marist on Sunday, March 19 in Georgetown, Del. The Friars, who have won 10 of their last 11 games, including the last five contests, are off to their best start after since 1996.

    Junior Sara Surosky (Elmira, N.Y.) led the Friars as she pitched her ninth complete game of the season and struck out 12 batters to improve to 8-4. In all, Surosky won four of PC's five wins in the tournament. At the plate, the Friars were led by seniors Michelle Willette (Moorpark, Calif.) and Elena Romero (Chula Vista, Calif.) as well as junior Katie Ross (Middleboro, Mass.) who each had two hits.

    The Friars led 5-1 going into the seventh inning, but the Red Foxes scored three runs in the seventh inning to cut the lead. However, the Friars were able to hold on for the win.

    The Friars are back in action on Saturday, March 25 when they begin their BIG EAST schedule with a doubleheader at Villanova.
