Softball Closes Out 2002 Winthrop Invitational With 2-0 Loss To Tulsa

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The Providence College softball team was defeated by the University of Tulsa, 2-0, on Saturday, March 16. It was PC's final game at the 2002 Winthrop Invitational after Sunday's games were cancelled due to rain and lightning. The Golden Hurricanes scored single runs in the first and sixth inning and Tulsa starting pitched Lindsey Dyer limited the Friars to just five hits and no runs. Cori Van Dusen (Riverside, Calif.) pitched for the Friars, going six innings, and allowing five hits and two runs in the loss. Van Dusen's record falls to 1-6 with the loss.
The Friars return to action on Sunday, March 24 with the start of BIG EAST Conference play when PC hosts Virginia Tech University at 12 noon at PC's Raymond Field.
