ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Providence College softball team defeated Winthrop University, 1-0, behind PC freshman pitcher Nicole Bartholomew (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.), who pitched a no-hitter for her team-leading fourth victory of the season.

The Friars (5-14 overall) scored the game's only run in the second inning when sophomore third baseman Meghan St. Ledger (Wilmington, N.C.) drove in freshman catcher Ashlee Weatherford (Woodland, Calif.) with a ground-out in the top of the second inning. The rest was all Bartholomew. The rookie right-hander pitched her fourth complete game, and allowed just three walks while striking out nine Winthrop batters.

Winthrop (6-13) pitcher Kelli Johnson suffered the defeat, but allowed just two hits and a walk.
