Rock Hill, S.C. - Providence College softball (5-9) fell, 4-0, to George Washington and , 3-1, to Gardner-Webb on Saturday, March 12 in the Winthrop-Adidas Classic Tournament in Rock Hill, S.C.
Today’s game against George Washington featured the two Clauss sisters. George Washington’s junior pitcher Kara Clauss and Friar junior pitcher Corinne Clauss (Davie, Fla.) faced each other on the mound for the first time in their collegiate careers. George Washington’s Kara Clauss pitched a seven inning shutout and allowed only three hits. Friar pitcher Corinne Clauss also pitched seven strong innings, giving up only four earned runs on five hits.
In the game against Gardner-Webb, the Friars jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning behind a RBI single by sophomore Jessie Bryant (Marlborough, Mass.) that scored senior Justine Stratton (Fresno, Calif.). The Runnin’ Buldogs scored the next three runs to earn the victory.
The Friars are back in action on Tuesday, March 15, when they travel to Greenville, S.C. to and take on Furman at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
