Softball Splits Day Two of USF Classic

    CLEARWATER, FLA. -

    The Providence College softball team was defeated by Loyola-Chicago, 5-0, and defeated  Brigham Young, 5-1, on Sat., March 9 at the USF Under Armour Classic in Clearwater, Fla.

    In their first game of the day, the Friars lost to Loyola-Chicago, 5-0.  Senior Stephanie Kiesel (Ramona, Calif.) hit her third double of the season and recording Providence’s lone-hit in the outing in the top of the seventh inning.

    Providence won its second game of the day, 5-1, against the Brigham Young Cougars.  More information to come.

    The Friars will play their final game of the USF Classic against Tennessee Tech on Sun., March 10 at 9:00 a.m.  The two teams’ only meeting came in 2005 at the Charleston Southern Invitational in Charleston, S.C., with the Golden Eagles recording the 2-1 victory in extra innings.
