Softball Edged On Day Two Of UNF Osprey Tournament

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. -- The Providence College softball team played the University of North Florida and Jacksonville on the second day of the UNF Osprey Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 17.

GAME AGAINST UNF NOTES:
Providence's second tilt of the season against North Florida proved to be a pitcher's duel between Christina Ramirez and UNF's Amanda Blanchard. Both pitchers went the distance, with neither allowing a run through the first seven innings.

UNF would prevail in the end, scoring in the bottom of the eighth inning.

In her seven innings of work, Ramirez struck out five batters and only allowed three hits. The one run of the game was unearned.

Mackensie Compton (Langhorne, Pa.) and Annie Flego (Little Silver, N.J.) each tallied hits for the Friars.

GAME AGAINST JACKSONVILLE NOTES:
The Friars once again found themselves in a pictchers' dual. Providence lost the game 1-0.

Miranda Trinidad (La Habra, Calif.) pitched six innings, giving up only one earned run.  

Emma Lee (Orange, Calif.) tallied two hits in the loss.

ON DECK:
The Friars finish off the UNF Osprey Tournament with a game against Canisius on Sunday, Feb. 18 at 9:00 a.m.
