Women's Soccer Earns NSCAA Team Academic Award

    On Tuesday, Nov. 20, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced that the Providence College women’s soccer team earned the Team Academic Award. The Friars rank among the top 40 women’s soccer teams in the nation with an overall GPA of 3.45.

    The NSCAA Team Academic Award is given to those teams that exemplify a strong commitment to academics. In order to receive the award the teams overall GPA must exceed a 3.0. The award is a reflection of the strong empahsis that the team places on academics in their role as student-athletes. The Providence College coaching staff stresses excelling in the classroom as well as out on the pitch.

     In addition to earning the Team Academic Award, the Friars excelled on the pitch in their 2012 campaign, finishing with an overall record of 8-9-1 (3-7-0 BIG EAST). The Friars fell just three seconds. short of earning their second consecutive berth into the BIG EAST tournament.
