Kyle McAuley (Trumbull, Conn.), a junior on the Providence College women's soccer team was named to the 2001 All-BIG EAST Second Team, on Thursday, November 8. Freshman midfielder Maura Robertson (Wellesley, Mass.) was named to the All-BIG EAST Rookie Team.
McAuley completed her best season as a Friar as she finished third on the team in scoring with three goals and two assists (eight points). Robertson was the top scorer for the Friars in 2001, tallying five goals and six assists (16 points). Three of Robertson's five goals were game-winning tallies, including a double overtime score in a 2-1 season-finale win against Holy Cross on October 30. Robertson becomes the third-straight Friar to be named to the BIG EAST All-Rookie. McAuley earned All-Rookie honors in 1999, while goalkeeper Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) earned the accolade in 2000.
The Friars finished the 2001 season with a 7-9-2 overall record, including a 1-4-1 finish in the BIG EAST Northeast Division.
