The Providence College women's soccer team is scheduled to face 17th-ranked Marquette in an afternoon match-up at Valley Fields on Sunday, Oct. 27 in Milwaukee, Wis. Providence enters Sunday with an overall record of 5-8-3 (2-5-0 BIG EAST) while the Golden Eagles own a record of 14-3-0 (7-0-0 BIG EAST).
Most recently, Providence hosted St. John's (10/20) where the Friars were edged by the Red Storm in overtime, 3-2. The Friars jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 11th minute with a goal from sophomore Lauren Elia (Erie, Pa.). St. John's evened the game at 1-1 with a penalty kick in the 69th minute.Sophomore Catherine Zimmerman (Madison, N.J.) gave the Friars a 2-1 lead in the 77th minute. The Red Storm evened the game at 2-2 in the 89th minute to send the match to overtime. St. John's went on to notch the game-winner in the 98th minute.
Zimmerman tops the Friars' scoring column with 14 points on a team-best six goals and two asssits. Classmate Kathryn Hiller (Dartmouth, Mass.) and senior Amanda Webster (Saugus, Mass.) have also tallied double digits in the scoring column with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Webster has tallied a team-high six assists.
Junior keeper Jessica Goudreault (Sherborn, Mass.) has played 646:48 minutes in goal where she has tallied 33 saves for a .717 save percentage. Goudreault has posted a record of 2-5-0.
SCOUTING MARQUETTE: The 17th-ranked Golden Eagles carry a perfect 7-0-0 conference record into Sunday's game. Most recently, Marquette recorded a 1-0 win over DePaul on Oct. 20 in Chicago, Ill. Maegan Kelly tops Marquette's score sheet with 19 points on six goals and a team-best seven assists. Mary Luba ranks second in scoring with 17 points on a team-high seven goals and three assists. Amanda Engel has played 1425:02 minutes in goal and has tallied 42 saves for a .750 save percentage.
