PROVIDENCE, R.I.-- The Providence College women's soccer team will conclude the regular season this weekend as they take on two BIG EAST foes at Glay Field. On Friday, October 24, the Friars will take on St. John's at 3:00 P.M.. Then, on Sunday, October 26, Providence will conclude the regular season as they hold senior day festivities before kickoff against Syracuse at 1:00 P.M..

The Friars will honor their six seniors, Kelly Determan (San Diego, Calif.), Christie Gent (Plantation, Fla.), Megan Mancarella (Rochester, N.Y.), Victoria Neff (Fairfield, Ct.), Kelly Pettersen (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Kimberly Pine (Fairfield, Ct.). A pregame ceremony will be held on field prior to the start of Sunday afternoon’s game.

The Friars went 0-2 in their last two games this past weekend. On Friday, October 17, Providence welcomed the #1/1 Notre Dame Fighting Irish into Glay Field. The Irish got on the board early in the first half and never looked back, getting the victory, 5-0. Then, on Sunday, October 19, Providence took on DePaul at Glay. The Blue Demons broke the 0-0 tie late in the first half off an own goal. No other scoring took place and the Blue Demons took the victory, 1-0.

St. John’s (7-5-4, 3-4-2 BIG EAST) enters Friartown after going 1-1 in their past two games. On October 19, the Red Storm defeated Seton Hall, 2-0 in Queens. Nicole Doran and Kelly McGrath scored the goals to ensure the victory. Then, on October 21, SJU battled Georgetown and were shutout, 1-0.


 

 

Syracuse (5-9-2, 2-6-1 BIG EAST) visits Glay Field after going 1-1 this past weekend. The Orange faced Seton Hall on October 17 and after heading to overtime, freshman Casey Ramirez scored in the 105th minute to give SU a 2-1 victory in overtime. Then on Sunday, October 19, SU took on #21/15 Rutgers on senior day and would fall 1-0.
