Providence College freshman forward Kerry O'Malley (Longmeadow, Mass.) was named Women's Soccer BIG EAST Rookie of the Week for October 7 through October 13, 2002.

O'Malley earned the honor for the second consecutive week by helping the Friars post a 1-1 record last week with a 2-0 victory against the University of Pittsburgh and a 3-2 loss to Virginia Tech. In the Pittsburgh game on Friday, October, 11, O'Malley scored the second goal of the game and her third goal on the season to help the Friars defeat the Panthers for the first time in school history. The victory against Pittsburgh was Providence's fourth straight home victory of the year. On Sunday, October 13, O'Malley also had a goal in the loss to Virginia Tech when she scored an unassisted goal in the Friars' 3-2 loss at Virginia Tech.

O'Malley has played in all 14 games this season for the Friars. She has registered four goals and four assists for a total of 12 points. O'Malley ranks second on the team in scoring.

Providence College's next game is on Sunday, October 20 at 1:00 p.m. at West Virginia.
