Women's Soccer Prepared To Host Creighton

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's soccer program is prepared to host Creighton University in an afternoon match up on Thursday, Oct. 3 at Glay Field in Providence, R.I. The game marks the second consecutive BIG EAST home game. The Friars enter Thursday afternoon with an overall record of 4-4-3 (1-1-0 BIG EAST).

Providence last competed on Sunday, Sept. 29 when the Friars defeated DePaul 1-0. Sophomores Catherine Zimmerman (Madison, N.J.) and Lauren Elia (Erie, Pa.) connected in the seventh minute to give the Friars the 1-0 advantage. Elia crossed a ball from the right side which Zimmerman collected and finished to the lower left corner. Providence was able to withstand DePaul's pressure and carried their 1-0 lead until the final whistle to notch its first BIG EAST win of the season. Junior keeper Jessica Goudreault(Sherborn, Mass.) played all 90 minutes in goal and collected her first shutout victory of the 2013 campaign.

Sophomore Kathryn Hiller (Dartmouth, Mass.) tops the Friars' score sheet with 12 points on five goals and two assists. Senior Amanda Webster(Saugus, Mass.) ranks second on the team in scoring with eight points on two goals and four assists.

Providence's back line has helped the Friars to three shutout victories including wins over DePaul (1-0), Vermont (3-0) and Rhode Island (3-0).

SCOUTING CREIGHTON: The Bluejays enter Thursday's game with an overall record of 7-3-1 (0-1-1 BIG EAST). In conference play, Creighton has recorded a loss against Marquette (2-1) and earned a tie against St. John's (0-0). Kristyn Corder and Lauren Cingoranelli top Creighton's score sheet with 10 points a piece. Corder has tallied five goals while Cingoranelli has tallied three goals and notched four assists. Keeper Danielle Rice has played 983:33 minutes in goal and tallied 58 saves for a .829 save percentage.
