Women's Soccer Kicks Off BIG EAST Slate At Seton Hall

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's soccer team kicks off BIG EAST conference play on Thursday, Sept. 26 when the Friars will travel to South Orange, N.J. for a night cap against Seton Hall. The match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and will be played on Owen T. Carroll Field.

    The Friars enter the BIG EAST portion of their 2013 campaign with an overall record of 3-3-3. Two of Providence's three wins have come on the road with victories over Rhode Island (3-0) and New Hampshire (4-1). Overall, the Friars have posted a 2-1-1 record on the road and a 1-2-2 record at home on Glay Field.

    Sophomore Kathryn Hiller (Dartmouth, Mass.) tops the Friars' score sheet with 12 points on five goals and two assists. She has tallied at least one point in five of the Friars' nine games. Senior Amanda Webster (Saugus, Mass.) ranks second on the team in scoring with eight points on two goals and a team-high four assists. Five additional Friars have found the back of the net so far this season.

    Providence's back line has aided in the success of two shutouts for the Friars. Senior Kerry Ann O'Connor (New Rochelle, N.Y.), junior Alexia Shea (Brewster, N.Y.), sophomore Allison Mills (Atkinson, N.H.) and freshman Hannah Wear (South Salem, N.Y.) have been the driving forces in the Friars' defensive third.

    Freshman keeper Kristyn Shea (Piscataway, N.J.) has started all nine games in goal for the Friars. In 784:20 minutes of play, Shea has tallied 43 saves and posted a .796 save percentage. She currently holds an overall record of 2-3-3.

     

     

    SCOUTING SETON HALL: The Pirates enter Thursday night's game with an overall record of 2-5-2. Seton Hall has posted a 2-0-2 record at home thus far. The Pirates' offense is led by senior Kaitlyn Ritter, who has tallied a team-high nine points on a team-best four goals and one assist. Senior Ashley Clarke ranks second on the team in scoring with seven points on one goal and a team-best five assists. Seton Hall has been out scored by its opponents, 13-9. Red shirt senior keeper Jennifer Pettigrew has played all 861:00 minutes in goal where she has posted 48 saves for a .787 save percentage.
