PROVIDENCE COLLEGE (5-4-1, 0-2 BIG EAST): The Providence College women's soccer team plays host to BIG EAST foe St. John's on Sunday, September 27 at 12:00 p.m. on Glay Field. The game is part of a double header where the Providence College men's soccer team also will host St. John's at 3:00 p.m.

Providence and St. John's have met 21 previous times with Providence winning 10. The Friars come off a hard fought, 2-1, double overtime defeat to another BIG EAST foe in Syracuse on Thursday, September 24. In the 69th minute, the Friars scored the first goal of the match when sophomore Courtney Collins (North Wales, Pa.) scored her second goal of the season. The Orange would rally and score in the 71st minute and again in the second overtime to win the match. This marks the fifth overtime match the Friars have played in so far this season.

The Friars continue to play well in 2009, holding an edge in shots, 157-76, and shots on goal, 60-37, against opponents. They have been able to create plenty of scoring opportunities and hope to carry this trend into the heart of their BIG EAST Conference schedule.

Leading the team in goals (four), assists (three) and points (11) is senior forward Jill Camburn (Doylestown Pa.). Camburn has tallied a total of 16 shots on goal and had the game-winning goal against St. Joseph's on August 28. Collins is second on the team in goals (two) and in points (five) and had the lone goal against Syracuse and the game winner against Stony Brook on September 13.

    ST. JOHN'S:

St. John's enters the game on Sunday ranked No. 15/23 in the country with a 8-1-0 overall and 2-0 BIG EAST Conference record. Some of the team's defining victories include a 2-1 win against No. 12/15 USC, a 1-0 win over No. 12/25 Indiana and a 1-0 overtime win over Connecticut.

Kaitlin Haas leads the Red Storm in goals with three. C.J. Ludemann leads the team in assists and points with five and 11, respectively. In goal, Kristin Russell has started all nine games and has a combined record of 8-1 with five shutouts, a 0.55 goals against average and a 0.853 save percentage.

On September 4, St. John's sophomore Kristen Russell received BIG EAST Conference Goalkeeper of the Week. It followed a week where the Red Storm went 2-0-0 and Russell had six saves in a 2-1 victory over No. 12/15 Southern California.
