Providence, R.I. - Women's Soccer Preview

Boston College at Providence 1:00 p.m. Glay Field Saturday, September 26

Boston College Eagles (4-3-1, 2-1-1 in BIG EAST): The Eagles had a three-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday with a 2-0 loss to Harvard. BC is currently tied for fifth in the BIG EAST with seven points on a 2-1-1 league record. Sophomore goalkeeper Courtney Schaeffer was the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week last week with shutouts against Syracuse (1-0) and St. John's (3-0). For the year, she is 4-3-1 with a 1.11 goals against for the season. Offensively, BC gets most of its scoring from freshman forward Morgan Page who has 14 points on seven goals and junior forward. The Eagles won last year's contest, 1-0 at Chestnut Hill.

Providence: (1-6-0, 1-3-0): This afternoon's game is PC's fourth consecutive home game. The Friars are currently 1-2-0 on the home stand with losses to Boston University and Syracuse and a win last Friday against St. John's. The Friars trail in the all-time series with a 2-15-1 all-time record against the Eagles and have lost the last five meetings. The last time PC beat Boston College was the 1993 BIG EAST Tournament by a 2-1 score. The Friars are led offensively by senior forward Patricia Moore who has six points on three goals. Freshman forward Caitlyn Welsh has four assists for four points. Junior goalkeeper Shayna Ross is 1-6 on the year with a 5.00 goals against. She has made 84 saves in seven games for a 70.4 save percentage.
