Providence, R.I. - Women's Soccer Preview

St. John's at Providence 3:30 p.m. Glay Field Friday, September 18

St. John's Red Storm (0-5-0, 0-3-0):

St. John's and Providence will look for their first wins of the season this afternoon at Glay Field. The two teams have both struggled in the offensive department with four goals through five games. St. John's has three BIG EAST losses, falling to Villanova, Syracuse and Pittsburgh. Sophomore Lisa Kaczmarski leads St. John's in scoring with two goals and one assist for five points. Junior Lynda Hughes and freshman Cara Calescibetta have the Red Storm's other two goals. Sophomores Jen Frankel (0-3, 2.88, ,579 sv%) and Evie Ksenopolous (0-2, 3.60, .652 sv%) have split the goalkeeping chores for St. John's.

Providence: (0-5-0, 0-2-0):

This afternoon's game is the Friars' second home game of the week. They also play Sunday at home against Syracuse. The Friars will be looking to avenge last season's 1-0 loss at St. John's. Providence leads the all-time series, 8-3. PC finally found the net in the 8-3 loss to Boston University on Wednesday. Senior Patricia Moore scored twice and sophomore Jill Flanagan had her first goal of the year in the loss. Freshman Caitlyn Welsh assisted on all three goals. PC will need to tighten up on defense as the Friars surrendered four unanswered goals in the final 21 minutes against BU. Junior Shayna Ross made 11 saves in goal and is now 0-5 on the year with a 5.60 goals against and a .663 save percentage.
