Long Island University Blackbirds (1-1-0) - The Blackbirds come to Glay Field on Sunday, September 7 for their first ever meeting with the Friars. LIU defeated Northeastern on Friday, September 5, 1-0 to improve their record to 1-1-0 for the season. The game-winning goal was scored by junior Nicole Lopez in the 77th minute on LIU's third shot of the game. Freshman goaltender Stephanie Kansky made several big saves throughout the game to earn her first collegiate shutout. The Blackbirds lost their season opener in double overtime to the Drexel Dragons by a score of 4-3.

Providence College Friars (2-1-0/0-0-0) - The Friars face the Blackbirds for the first time ever on Sunday, September 7 at Providence's Glay Field. The Friars enter the match with a two game winning streak. After dropping their first game of the season, 5-0, at Rutgers University, Providence defeated Holy Cross and Quinnipiac by a combined score of 2-0. Junior Lauren Ritchie (Sayville, N.Y.) has scored both goals for the Friars, while senior Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) has made seven saves combined in her two shutouts.
