Friars Shut out Umass-Dartmouth, 6-0, In Preseason

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior midfielder Kelly McCusker (Simsbury, Conn.) and freshman forward Jackie Powers (Happauge, N.Y.) each scored two second half goals to lead the Providence College Friars to a 6-0 shutout win over the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth Wednesday afternoon at Glay Field. The win was the Friars second of the preseason as they had defeated Bryant College, 4-0 on August 28th.

Melissa Crowley (Jr., Duxbury, Mass.) and Erin Jones (Fr., Sandy Hook, Conn.) added single goals for the Friars.

Shayna Ross (Sr., Whitman, Mass.) and Shelagh Slack (Jr., S.W. Harbor, Me.) split the shutout in goal for Providence.

The Providence College women's team opens the regular season on Saturday, September 4th against the University of Rhode Island in a 1:00 p.m. game at Glay Field.
