Women's Soccer Set To Play Northeastern And UMass

    Providence, R.I. - The Providence College women’s soccer team continues its 2014 season against Northeastern at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28 at the Ray Treacy Track.  The Friars will then travel to UMass to play a 1:00 p.m. game on Sunday, Aug. 31. 

    The Friars are 0-1-1 on the season after their home opener draw against Rhode Island, 1-1 (2OT), and a loss versus Colgate, 1-0.  Junior Catherine Zimmerman (Madison, N.J.) notched the lone goal for the Friars, while sophomore goalkeeper Kristyn Shea (Piscataway, N.J.) was in net for both games and made eight saves.  

    Northeastern enters Thursday’s game with a 1-1-0 record on the season, while UMass has a 0-1-1 record on the season.  Before the Friars take on the Minutemen, UMass will play Thursday at Bryant.

    Scouting Northeastern
    Northeastern finished the 2013 season with a 6-9-6 record.  The Huskies return three of their top-five point scorers including Lahaina Zoller, Shayna Blackwood and Haley Sinclair with six, six and five points, respectively.  For the start of the 2014 season, the point leaders include freshmen Hannah Lopiccolo (4) and Kayla Cappuzzo (2) and sophomore captain Carina Deandreis (2).

    Women's Soccer Draws A 1-1 Tie With UMass
    The Providence College women's soccer team hosted UMass on Friday, Sept. 6 at Glay Field. After 110 minutes of play, the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
