Providence, R.I. - Providence College women's soccer Head Coach Jim McGirr has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2007 season. The Friars will play 18 regular season games, including eight home matches.

The Friars will begin the 2007 slate with two tournaments. On August 31, the Friars will face URI, and then on September 2, they will play UMass in Kingstown R.I. as part of the URI Tournament. Then the Friars will travel to Dartmouth N.H. for the Dartmouth Tournament, in which they will play Minnesota University on September 7 and then Cal-Poly University on September 9. The remainder of PC's non-conference opponents include Hartford, Quinnipiac, and Fairfield.

Providence opens its BIG EAST schedule at home versus the University of Connecticut on September 21. The Friars, who are part of the American Division along with UConn, will play the other six American Division squads (West Virginia, Marquette, Syracuse, St. John's, USF, and Pittsburgh) as well as four National Division Foes (Seton Hall, Rutgers, Notre Dame, and DePaul). The Friars' home game versus USF on September 30 will be part of a doubleheader, as the women's game will be played at 12:00 p.m., and the PC men's soccer team will play St. John's at 3:00 p.m.

At the conclusion of the regular season and two preliminary playoff rounds, the BIG EAST women's soccer championships will be held at West Virginia University.
